The Life and Ministry of LaVerne Tripp

LaVerne has traveled extensively for nearly 60 years and has been known on worldwide television since 1973. Through his ministry, more than one million people have made Jesus Lord. We trust you will be inspired as you see highlights of this living legend.

His Early Life and

Blue Ridge Quartet Career

Born in Chocowinity, North Carolina, on April 11th, 1944, LaVerne Tripp started singing in front of the crowd when he was just two and a half years old. From then on, his desire to sing never diminished.

When he was a student, he sang at local churches and eventually joined such groups as The Rangers Quartet, Sierras, Jubilee Quartet, and Palmetto State Quartet.

In 1968, he joined the Blue Ridge Quartet as their lead singer. With his songwriting and singing skill developed, the Blue Ridge Quartet soared to the top. For six consecutive years the Blue Ridge Quartet saw its popularity go through the roof, thanks to the introduction of LaVerne. Three of his songs became #1 hits:

  • “I Know” (recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys and The Blue Ridge)
  • “That Day Is Almost Here”, and
  • “After Calvary”

Record sales and concert tickets skyrocketed. LaVerne was voted male vocalist of the year. His song “I Know” was voted the song of the year. He was nominated for the Dove Award eight times.

He thought he had settled into everything he could have asked for...

But GOD HAD OTHER PLANS.

His Ministry and

TBN Years

With his wife, Edith, by his side and their two sons, Robb and Terry, LaVerne left the Blue Ridge Quartet in 1974 and became an evangelist through music and preaching. In 1979, they moved from Spartanburg, SC, to Orange County, CA, and joined the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).

For 26 years, the LaVerne Tripp family reached millions of people every week on their musical tv show. They also traveled more than 100,000 miles a year, ministering in 200 plus churches.

In 1994, they moved from California to Hendersonville, TN, and opened a recording studio. They have helped hundreds of other singers and songwriters fulfill their calling to share the gospel.

With the passing of his oldest son, Robb (December 9th, 2021), and his wife, Edith (February 17th, 2022), LaVerne is in a new season of ministry. His passion is to see men and women who are bound in addictions receive the freedom he himself experienced many years ago.

Missions & Outreach

India

In 1986, we began supporting 10 children in the southern part of India. Because of individuals, churches, youth groups, and organizations joining their resources together, that work has now grown to more than 20,000 children, four churches, a public school, and a Bible College.

We now have government officials in office who were raised in our home. They have been an influential part in changing laws that allow the Gospel of Christ to be preached freely in India.

For a donation of only $150.00, we can take a child in India, place them in our home, feed them three meals a day, clothe them, educate them and prepare them to evangelize their nation for an entire year.

Generations Series
